Summer Vacation to Hong Kong & Bali
Anouk from Amsterdam shares with us her plans for the summer and some of her best summer vacation memories. Get inspired by this experienced traveller and follow her blog: Family Travel Delights.
1. Where are you going and who are going with you?
This summer, we will go to Hong Kong & Bali with my husband Gijs and three kids, Camille (9), Raphael (7) & Maxim (3).
2. Where are you staying and for how long?
We will be on vacation for 4 weeks. The first three days, we will spend some time in Hong Kong and meet some friends. In Bali, we will stay a couple of days in an eco-lodge and we have rented a house in Seminyak.
3.What’s your favorite summer vacation memory with the kids?
Last summer we went to Mallorca. If you visit Mallorca you certainly should visit Soller- Deia –Valdemossa area. From Soller you can drive to Deia and there you have this chic “secret” hideaway beach Cala Deia. It’s really a gyspet location with such a positive vibe and a picture perfect restaurant. We rented a house in Soller and the children were having great fun in the swimming pool, picking up oranges from the orange trees in the garden, playing on the beach and having the best ice cream in one of the pittoresque villages near Soller.
4. Can you recommend a nice country, city or hotel for other families?
Well as I live in Amsterdam, I can certainly recommend this city! You can have a look at my blog Family Travel Delights for more inspiration. I also love to go to Paris and I think that a citytrip with children is fun and part of a new experience. You can rent very nice appartments, have a look at one of my favourite websites I-escape or Mr. and Mrs Smith website for childfriendly self catering appartments.
5. What’s the recipe for the perfect summer vacation with kids?
Be happy and relaxed and have fun! I think it’s important to have a good balance every day between activities and just play time for the kids. If you take your kids for dinner in a restaurant in the evening don’t forget the colour books and pencils. I pad and I Phone is also a favourite one. Camille and Raphael now have a photo camera, they love to make pictures!
