Highligths from the CPH Fashion Week Day 1

Last week and weekend Copenhagen was busy with the fashion week and 5 different fairs in the city. Local and international buyers and press were present and many beautiful and interesting shows and collections were shown. We visited the two children's fashion fairs CPH Kids and CIFFKIDS and brings you here our highlights.

CPH Kids was as usual very cosy with it's open stands and lounge feeling showcasting all the best Danish and international brands. We didn't expect much from CIFFKIDS, and was also, I'm afraid, very disapointed. It seemed cold, unpersonal and had a lot of mainstream brands without much new.

It's no secret that we love the Danish brand Poppy Rose for it's beautiful Liberty fabrics, classic shapes and soft knits, so we were expecting a lot from Minna the designer for the A/W 2012 collection. The Poppy Rose A/W collection 2012 is a bit more edgy than the previous collections, mixing the sweet and romantic Liberty fabrics with some army prints and heavier fabrics. So we were blown away and already found some must haves for our own children both girls and boy.

We also discovered some very cool new international brands such as Waddler and That's not Fair London. Waddler has created an amazing knit collection of alpaca wool with some very cool styles. All clothes are handmade in Bolivia by women using skills passed down over several generations and everything is produced according to official Fair Trade standards. Waddler could very easy become one of my favourite brands. So we will keep an eye on it!

That's not Fair London is a new British brand creating a bit more edgy elegant styles for children like victorian ruffle neck shirts and trench coats. The brand wishes to create clothes based on longevity and flexibility with adjustable and removable sleeves, allowing the items to grow with children. It's going to be interesting to follow the next collections.

We also had a nice talk with the designer behind the fantastic new play matrasses byKlipKlap, which should be a must have for every family home. A nice looking matras / couch for kids and parents to play on, relax on and perfect for building a tunnel or caves. The matrasses are made in high end materials.

We finished the first day at a house warming at Ferm Living, a Danish Design company. Their cool office at Islands Brygge was made into a home, a modern family apartment with kitchen, living room, study, bathroom, the parent's room and the children's room. Every room styled with Ferm Living products into every little detail, the perfect way to showcast the products and how many ways they can be used! We love it and were very inspired!
