Carddies are a new product that are practical and handy and great for kids while on the go. Card people to colour and go!
Carddies, was created by two sisters, Raquel and Esther. During a rainy seaside holiday Raquel started drawing little card people for her three girls, using the backs of cereal packs. Since then Raquel has drawn hundreds of little card people for many children, who love them and play with them for hours. Raquel and Esther joined forces to develop this lovely idea into a business and so the Carddies evolved. Their past experiences working as a lawyer and accountant respectively, and as full time mothers of their seven children, have been useful! All the Carddies, scenes and packaging continue to be drawn by hand by the two sisters.
The different sets of carddies contain 12 people and 1 background to color and cut with 12 coloured pencils and 12 stands. The Carddies are perfect for the imagination and playing for hours and you will find four different themes: Ballet, Knights, Cavemen and Fairies. With her background in architecture and scenography, Michaela combines spacial principles and storytelling into functional and inspiring products for children and their homes. Her innovative products stimulate imagination, challenge coordination and inspire everyday life.
The very first Fabelab product is the Play-fold-bird blanket. Inspired by the old techinques of Origami, this comfortable quilted patchwork blanket in gentle colours perfectly covers all needs of the little ones and their families. The play-fold-blanket "bird" is handmade in India, 100% soft cotton jersey patchwork with a sweatshirt-jersey on the backside, giving your baby the feeling of being wrapped in your own warm sweater. In the first months, the blanket is a cuddly nest in the buggy and crib. Later on it will be your childs playmat and an inspiring toy for small explorers - the patchwork pattern not only looks good, it is also a folding manual: suddenly the cuddly blanket turns into a bird! The play-fold-bird can follow your child as a toy or pillow even as a grown up.
I simply think this product is brilliant. I love great design and beautiful colour combinations but I especially find multhifunctional products like the Play-fold-blanket very interesting. Also growing up I was crazy about Origami! I wouldn't mind inviting this beautiful bird into our home:)
